Bakersfield Homeless Center Birthday Parties:
The Junior League of Bakersfield is proud to begin its third consecutive year of its partnership with the Bakersfield Homeless Center (BHC) as part of its Birthday Parties Project. All children participating in the BHC after-school program are welcome to participate. Every month, children residing at the Homeless Center are provided with a one-of-a-kind birthday party, organized by our committee. The parties are uniquely designed with their own theme, and include: food, dessert, games, prizes, and enrichment experiences, as well as gifts for every child residing at BHC who have a birthday that month. Committee members play and celebrate alongside children and their family members, not only in order to provide a wonderful experience that these children might not have otherwise, but also to remind them that, no matter the circumstances, each child deserves to be recognized on their special day.
November 2018 Birthday Party
We did it!! It took a village of JLB members, sponsors, and the community to make our BHC Disney on Ice Dreams come true today. On behalf of the Birthday Party Committee, we want to thank all of you who donated, shared our fundraiser, and volunteered to help us take 150 BHC kids / parents to Disney on Ice!
In addition to receiving support from across Kern County, we received an outpouring of support from across the country with donations coming in from Chicago, Florida, Nevada and Arizona.

Thank you to our ticket donors at Rabobank Arena Theater and Convention Center. We promised that we wouldn’t leave any kids behind. We kept our promise and sent every single kid at BHC!
